Statement of Faith
The Holy Bible
We believe that the 66 books of the Holy Bible were given by the inspiration of God; that there can be no appeal from these Scriptures to any other authority whatsoever; that they are able to make one wise unto salvation through faith that is in Jesus Christ; that the Holy Spirit who inspired the Scriptures must ever be its true interpreter as Christ works through the disciplined and dedicated minds of those within His Church; that any professed guidance that is contrary to these Scriptures must be counted as a delusion.
God
We believe in one God, revealed through the Holy Spirit in the person of Jesus Christ; that He is both the creator and preserver of all things visible and invisible; that He alone is worthy of worship, honor, glory, dominion, praise, and thanksgiving both now and forevermore; and that in the unity of the Godhead, there exists three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, inseparable in divinity, power, glory and eternity.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ to be the only begotten Son of God; that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that He is the express image of the invisible God; and that He combines within Himself both the nature of God and the nature of man in one perfect indivisible personality, the God-man. We believe that He was crucified as a substitutionary atonement for us and for the sins of the whole world, making provision whereby each person may find the forgiveness of sins, the power for a new life, and be brought back into a perfect relationship with the Father. We believe that He arose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of God, making intercession for us, and that He will come to earth again to receive His Church unto Himself and to judge the world in righteousness.
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit to be the third person of the Trinity, proceeding from both Father and Son, but equal with them in authority, power, and glory; that He convicts the world of sin, imparts life to the penitent believer, sanctifies the child of God, empowers the disciple for service to others, and enables each one by His indwelling presence to love God supremely.
People
We believe that God created people as male and female in His own image; that they enjoyed unbroken fellowship with their maker and that their whole life centered in the person of God. We believe that people fell from this original state by an act of transgression; that in this fall they suffered the immediate loss of their perfect relationship to God, making self the center of their life; and that in this act they suffered immediate spiritual death. All people are born in this disposition to sin. We own no principle inherent naturally by which they may be saved, except by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ as a provision for all people.
Marriage and Sexuality
God designed marriage for humanity. As first described in Genesis and later affirmed by Jesus, marriage is a God ordained, covenant relationship between a biologically born male and a biologically born female. This lifelong, sexually exclusive relationship brings children into the world and thus sustains the stewardship of the earth. Biblical marriage – marked by faithfulness, sacrificial love and joy – displays the relationship between God and his people.
Salvation
We believe that by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the direct and immediate agency of the Holy Spirit, people can be recovered from their fallen state through diving enlightenment, forgiveness of sin, regeneration and sanctification of their affection, and the final glorification of their bodies; that in this life they can love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, that they can live in victory over known sin and enjoy unbroken fellowship with the Heavenly Father; and that once more their whole lives may center in and revolve around their Creator and Redeemer. We believe the experience of sanctification is the work of God’s grace by which affections are purified and exalted to a supreme love to God and others, and the believer is empowered to witness of the living Christ. This is accomplished by the filling with the Holy Spirit in the life of a dedicated and believing child of God; that this is both an act in which the heart is purified by faith and a process in which the life is continuously disciplined into paths of holiness. By submission and availability to Jesus Christ, people become channels for Christ to do His work in this present age.
The Church
We believe that all those persons who repent of their sins, believe in and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior, are born again into His kingdom by the Holy Spirit, and that these constitute the Church of Jesus Christ. This Church we believe to be spiritual in nature, universal in scope, holy in character, and redemptive in her life and purpose. We believe that wherever two or three are gathered together regularly and faithfully in the name of Christ, He is truly present in the person of the Holy Spirit and that such an assembly is a local church, the visible expression of His body and the Church universal. We believe that believers must relate themselves to the local and visible body of Christ being fitly framed together with others into a holy temple in the Lord and built together for a habitation of His Holy Spirit.
Christian Ministries
We believe that in the church, the believer is committed to both the worship and the work of God; that this work involved not only personal righteousness as the fruit of a new life, but the ministry of evangelism and teaching; that in this commission of Christ every believer is involved in the stewardship of the kingdom, and that is fulfilled only the faithful service in and through the fellowship of His church; and that this work is continuous until Christ comes again calling the Church unto Himself. We believe that all Christians are called upon to witness by word and by deed within a sinful world, not returning evil for evil, but in Christlikeness demonstrating love, forgiveness, and the way of peace. We believe that in the fellowship of His body, the Holy Spirit gives to every member a gift to be exercised for the mutual advantage of every member in the body, and for the influence of the Church upon those outside; the ministry is a special calling given to certain ones whom God ordains for a service of leadership in His Church; that this service may be that of pastoring, teaching, evangelizing, administration, or other kinds of service to humanity.
Liberty
Regarding Christian liberty we recognize that among Evangelical Friends and among the larger body of evangelical Christians there are minor differences of faith and practice, due in part to historical and cultural differences and our imperfections. We look forward to the time when we shall all come into a greater unity of the faith. Until then, we believe that in biblical essentials there must be unity, in nonessentials there must be liberty, but in all things there must be charity.
Spiritual Realities
We believe that both Christian baptism and communion are spiritual realities which are not dependent upon physical and outward ordinances; that baptism is an inward receiving of the Holy Spirit in which He becomes Lord over all – guiding, cleansing, empowering, and in general, representing God to us in immediate experience; that communion is the daily receiving and realization of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; that this communion is dependent not only upon the condition of the believer walking daily in the light of Christ but also in the historic act of Christ on Calvary as His body was broken and blood shed once and for all for us; that Christ thus becomes a daily personal spiritual reality known immediately in Christian experience; and that through Him and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, God and divine realities are known experientially and immediately.
Resurrection and Judgment
We believe in the second coming of Christ; that at His coming the dead shall be resurrected, some to everlasting glory and others to everlasting condemnation; that we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive recompense for the things done in the body; that the judgment of the blessed shall be unto heaven, and the judgment of the lost shall be unto hell; that the punishment of the wicked and the blessedness of the righteous shall be everlasting; that this judgment is in the hands of our compassionate Redeemer, who does all things after the counsel of his wisdom, love and holiness.

Artículo IV—Declaración de Fe
La Santa Biblia:
Creemos que los 66 libros de la Santa Biblia fueron dados por inspiración de Dios; que no puede haber apelación de estas escrituras a ninguna otra autoridad; que ellas pueden hacerle a uno sabio hasta la salvación por medio de fe en Jesucristo; que el Espíritu Santo, quien las inspiró, debe de ser siempre su intérprete verdadero mientras Cristo obra por medio de mentes disciplinadas y dedicadas de aquellos dentro de su Iglesia; que cualquier guía profesada que sea contraria a estas Escrituras debe ser considerada una delusión.
Dios:
Creemos en un solo Dios, revelado por el Espíritu Santo en la persona de Jesucristo; que Él es tanto creador como preservador de todas las cosas visibles e invisibles; que sólo Él es digno de adoración, honor, gloria, dominio, alabanza, y gratitud, tanto ahora como para siempre; y que en la unidad de la Deidad, existen tres personas—Padre, Hijo, y Espíritu Santo, inseparables en divinidad, poder, gloria y eternidad.
Jesucristo:
Creemos que Jesucristo es el unigénito Hijo de Dios; que fue concebido por el Espíritu Santo y nació de la virgen María; que Él es la imagen expresada del Dios invisible; que Él combina en sí mismo tanto la naturaleza de Dios como la naturaleza del hombre en una personalidad perfecta e indivisible, el Dios-hombre. Creemos que fue crucificado como una expiación en sustitución por nosotros y por los pecados de todo el mundo, haciendo provisión por la cuál todas las personas pueden encontrar perdón de pecados, el poder para una vida nueva, y ser restituidas a una relación perfecta con el Padre. Creemos que se levantó de los muertos, ascendió a la derecha de Dios, hace intercesión por nosotros, y que regresará a la tierra de nuevo para recibir a Su Iglesia a sí mismo y para juzgar al mundo en justicia.
Espíritu Santo:
Creemos que el Espíritu Santo es la tercera persona de la Trinidad, que procede tanto del Padre como del Hijo, pero igual con ellos en autoridad, poder, y gloria; que Él convence al mundo de pecado e imparte vida al creyente penitente, santifica al hijo de Dios, empodera al discípulo para servicio a otros, y posibilita a cada persona por su presencia que habita adentro a amar a Dios supremamente.
Las Personas:
Creemos que Dios creó a las personas como masculino y femenino en Su imagen; que ellos disfrutaban compañerismo ininterrumpido con su Creador, y que toda su vida se centraba en la persona de Dios. Creemos que los seres humanos cayeron de su estado original por un acto de transgresión; que por esta caída sufrieron la pérdida inmediata de su relación perfecta con Dios, haciéndose a si mismos el centro de su vida; y que en este acto sufrieron muerte espiritual de inmediato. Todas las personas nacen con esta disposición a pecar. No poseemos ningún principio naturalmente inherente por medio del cual se puede ser salvo, excepto por la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo como la provisión para todas las personas.
Matrimonio y Sexualidad:
Dios diseñó el matrimonio para la humanidad. Como se describe por primera vez en Génesis y después afirmado por Jesucristo, el matrimonio es un pacto de relación ordenado por Dios entre un hombre, biológicamente nacido masculino, y una mujer, biológicamente nacida femenina. Esta relación es para toda la vida, con sexualidad exclusiva que trae hijos al mundo, y de esta manera sostiene la mayordomía de la tierra. El matrimonio bíblico—marcado por fidelidad, amor sacrificial y gozo, manifiesta la relación entre Dios y su pueblo.
Salvación:
Creemos que por la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y por la agencia directa e inmediata del Espíritu Santo, las personas pueden ser recuperadas del estado caído por medio de iluminación divina, perdón del pecado, regeneración y santificación de sus afectos, y la glorificación final de sus cuerpos; que en esta vida ellos pueden amar a Dios con todo el corazón, alma, mente, y fuerzas, que pueden vivir en victoria sobre el pecado conocido y disfrutar compañerismo ininterrumpido con el Padre Celestial; y que de nuevo sus vidas holísticas pueden centrarse en y girar alrededor de su Creador y Redentor.
Creemos que la experiencia de la santificación es la obra de la gracia de Dios por la cual los afectos son purificados y exactados a un amor supremo para con Dios y otros, y que el creyente es empoderado a testificar acerca del Cristo viviente. Esto se logra por la llenura del Espíritu Santo en la vida de un hijo de Dios, creyente y dedicado; que esto es tanto un acto en lo cual el corazón es purificado por fe y un proceso en el cual la vida es disciplinada continuamente en las sendas de santidad. Por sumisión y disponibilidad a Jesucristo, las personas llegan a ser canales por los cuales Cristo hace su obra en esta presente edad.
La Iglesia:
Creemos que todas las personas que se arrepienten de sus pecados, creen en y reciben a Jesucristo como su Salvador, nacen de nuevo en su reino por el Espíritu Santo, y que ellos constituyen la Iglesia de Jesucristo. Creemos que esta Iglesia es espiritual en su naturaleza, universal en su alcance, santa en su carácter, y redentora en su vida y propósito.
Creemos que donde se reúnen dos o tres juntos, regularmente y fielmente en el nombre de Cristo, Él está verdaderamente presente en la persona del Espíritu Santo y que tal asamblea es una iglesia local, la expresión visible de su cuerpo y de la Iglesia universal.
Creemos que los creyentes deben relacionarse con la iglesia local y el cuerpo visible de Cristo, debidamente unidos con otros en un templo santo en el Señor y edificados juntos para una habitación de Su Espíritu Santo.
Ministerios Cristianos:
Creemos que en la Iglesia, el creyente es comprometido tanto a la adoración como a la obra de Dios; que esta obra involucra no solamente rectitud personal como fruto de un vida nueva, sino también el ministerio de evangelismo y enseñanza; que en esta comisión de Cristo todos los creyentes se involucran en la mayordomía del reino, y que eso se cumple sólo por medio del servicio fiel en y por medio de la comunión de Su Iglesia; y que esta obra es continua hasta que Cristo venga de nuevo y llame a la Iglesia hacia él mismo. Creemos que todos los cristianos son llamados a testificar por palabra y por obra dentro de este mundo pecaminoso, no devolviendo mal por mal, sino en la similitud de Cristo la demostración de amor, perdón, y el camino de la paz. Creemos que en la comunión de Su cuerpo, el Espíritu Santo da a cada miembro un don que debe de ejercitar para la ventaja mutua de cada miembro en el cuerpo, y para la influencia de la Iglesia hacia los de afuera; el ministerio es un llamado especial dado a ciertas personas que Dios ordena para un servicio de liderazgo en Su Iglesia; que este servicio puede ser el de pastorado, enseñanza, evangelismo, administración, u otras formas de servicio a la humanidad.
Libertad:
Con respecto a la libertad cristiana, reconocemos que entre los Amigos Evangélicos y entre el cuerpo más grande de cristianos evangélicos hay diferencias menores de fe y práctica, debido en parte a las diferencias históricas y culturales y debido a nuestras imperfecciones. Anticipamos el tiempo cuando todos llegaremos a una mejor unidad de la fe. Hasta entonces, creemos que en los esenciales bíblicos debe haber unidad, que en lo no esencial debe haber libertad, pero en todas las cosas debe haber caridad.
Realidades Espirituales:
Creemos que tanto el bautismo como la comunión son realidades espirituales que no dependen de ordenanzas físicas y exteriores; que el bautismo es la recepción interior del Espíritu Santo en la cual Él llega a ser Señor sobre todo—guiando, limpiando, empoderando, y en general representando a Dios en experiencia inmediata; que la comunión es el recivimiento y realización diaria de Jesucristo como Salvador y Señor; que esta comunión es dependiente no solamente de la condición del creyente que anda diariamente en la luz de Cristo, sino también en el acto histórico de Cristo en Calvario mientras se quebró su cuerpo y se derramó su sangre una vez y para siempre por todos nosotros; que Cristo, por lo tanto, llega a ser diariamente una realidad espiritual personal conocida inmediatamente en la experiencia cristiana; y que por medio de Él y el bautismo del Espíritu Santo, se conoce experiencial e inmediatamente a Dios y las realidades divinas.
Resurrección y Juicio:
Creemos en la segunda venida de Cristo; que a Su venida los muertos serán resucitados, algunos a la gloria eterna y otros a la condenación eterna; que todos compareceremos ante el tribunal de Cristo para recibir la recompensa por las cosas que hemos hecho en el cuerpo; que el juicio de los bendecidos resultará en el cielo, y el juicio de los perdidos resultará en el infierno; que el castigo de los malos y las bendiciones de los justos serán para siempre; que este juicio está en las manos de nuestro Redentor compasivo, quien hace todas cosas conforme al consejo de su sabiduría, amor, y santidad.
